The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for residents of long-term care facilities.
Ombudsmen help residents understand their rights; address issues that impact health, safety, and quality of life; and investigate complaints.
Essential Functions:
Visits long-term care facilities to meet with residents, and responds to resident issues and concerns, as necessary.
Travels up to 30-40% of their time throughout this geographic area covered by the program to provide in-person facility visitation and marketing of the program to residents, potential volunteers, and the public.
Conducts program outreach to long-term care and other residential facilities.
Participates in an ongoing program of education and public awareness to address systematic problems and elder abuse.
Presents the program's services in public forums, such as speaking engagements, agency fairs, etc.

Qualifications:
Experience and interest in working with older adults.
Experience working with and training volunteers.
Experience advocating for vulnerable populations.
Required Skills:
Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner with tact and diplomacy.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Computer literacy.
Other Requirements:
Must have a valid NYS Driver's License, their own vehicle, and automobile insurance.
Must be willing to follow a mandatory COVID vaccination policy.
Salary:
$39,000.
